Eric Florence is currently a researcher at the Centre for Ethnic and Migration Studies (CEDEM) at the University of Liege. His research focuses on the cultural politics of labor in South China. During the last ten years he has taken part in several research projects on international migration at the Centre for Ethnic and Migration Studies (University of Liege). He obtained a PhD in political and social sciences at the University of Liege (Institute of Human and Social Sciences, Liege). He also graduated with a Master’s degree in Chinese Language and Civilisation from the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO) in Paris, France, and holds a certificate in Chinese history from the University of Shandong, China, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Political Science and International Relations from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium. He teaches two courses and a seminar on Chinese contemporary society and politics in the Master’s program in Population Studies, Anthropology and in the MA in European Integration and International Relations at the University of Liège. He teaches also a modern Chinese language course in the Master program in Modern languages and literatures at the University of Liege. He has been a visiting language professor at the College of Europe from 2007 to 2011.
