Internships, Master and PhD Theses, post-docs on amphibians
Several research subjects on amphibians are regularly proposed for Master and PhD students as well as for post-docs.
These subjects can include both field and laboratory work in Belgium and abroad. They can be adapted in function of a motivated letter from prospective students. Research will be on behavioural, evolutionary and conservation biology of amphibians. Priority topics are the determinism of metamorphosis, adatations of aquatic and terrestrial phenotypes (facultative paedomorphosis), trophic ecology (food webs) and the effect of invasive species and drought (climate change).
Applications must contain a detailed curriculum vitae (including yearly grades or mentions), a letter of motivation and details on the planned research project.
Prospective students and researchers are advised to contact the laboratory (Contact: M. Denoel – home page) to find out about the possibility of doing research in the lab and to start preparing the research plan.
Practical information for incoming students and vistors on the website of the university.
The laboratory welcomes Master 2 students every year, particularly from February to June-August but longer stays are possible. Students coming from other institutions can often benefit from the Erasmus program (see your own insitution). A convention will be made between the host and home institutions.
Deadlines to apply for a PhD grant (regional competition) are in February (FNRS) and in late August (FRIA) every year. Grants are for a duration of 4 years. It is advised to prospective candidates to do an intership in the lab and to visit the lab in due time before the deadline. Co-promotion or joint-PhD programs are possible. Interships for PhD students from other institutions are welcome.
Current calls – position open (via grant application) on the effect of invasive species in amphibians and on trophic ecology of amphibians. Deadline for FRIA at the end of August.
See the page in French for a call for a PhD grant (2019-2022).
Current calls – position open (via grant application) on the effect of invasive species in amphibians and on trophic ecology of amphibians. Deadline for Marie Curie at the end of summer.
Specific calls will be posted in this webpage.
