The University of Liège organizes each year in Liège an International Colloquium on ocean dynamics. The event has been launched in 1968 by Jacques Nihoul with the aim to gather scientists working on marine turbulence. Since then, the subject of the colloquium has been enlarged in order to cover various aspects of ocean dynamics (e.g. Submesoscale Processes: Mechanisms, Implications and New Frontiers; Marine Environment Monitoring, Modelling and Predictions; Low oxygen environments in marine, estuarine and fresh water). A special issue of a peer review journal is published with selected contributions from the colloquium.
