After my graduation in law from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in February1992, I started to study social policy at the University of Edinburgh where I was admitted to the degree of Master of Science (in Social Sciences: Policy Studies) in November 1993. The same year I started my doctoral studies in sociology at Eötvös Loránd University. My research focused on the effectiveness of legal norms regulating the Hungarian social assistance scheme. As a part of my doctoral research I studied the theoretical foundations of welfare rights as a visiting fellow in the New School for Social Research, New York. I defended my doctoral thesis in 1999 and the same year I was appointed as assistant professor of social policy to the Department of Social Work and Social Policy of Eötvös Loránd University and since then I have been lecturing on Hungarian and international social law and social policy. From 1999 I have been giving lectures on administration of social security in the European Master of Social Security, a distance learning graduate program of the Catholic University of Leuven. In 2015 I was appointed dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Eötvös Loránd University for a three-years term. |
