The CEDEM, in the framework of the MiTSoPro ERC project, will host Prof. Dr. Peggy LEVITT from Wellesley College & Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University for a seminar on: “TRANSFORMING THE SOCIAL CONTRACT: A COMPARATIVE LOOK AT TRANSNATIONAL SOCIAL PROTECTION” to be held on 14th of October 2019 from 14-16hrs, Salle du Conseil (B31), Université de Liège.
Abstract: The idea that social rights are something we are eligible for based on where we live or where we are citizens is out-of-date. People protect themselves and their families transnationally—using formal and informal resources in the countries that they come from and where they settle. This talk will offer a broad overview of developments in Transnational Social Protection across sectors and across regions.
